Ranger vs Rhino why did you go Ranger?

Hey guys,

I have eliminated the Crew from my purchasing decision (people are saying it high centers a lot), what made you go with the Ranger vs. the Rhino or the Teryx? Looking for personal experiences, having hard time with the size of the Rhino (being so small) but then the seating of the Ranger seems to be a not-so-comfortable issue also, all of your input is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Re: Ranger vs Rhino why did you go Ranger?

I went with Ranger for the "SIZE" it matters in UTV's Driven alot of Rhinos. They tend to lay done on their side alot. if a aggresive drive. Also they can only fit Four people (small people in the back) I have three teens. So the with a back seat 54" wide I can seat 3 adults and 3 up front. Also the Ranger is a American Company. Make a big difference to me!
The ranger has a faster MPH stock then the Rhino.

Yeah what he said
Seriosly
1) The width of the Ranger makes it much more stable than the Rhino.
2) The ranger rides much better than the Rhino.
3) 3 adult seating accross the front bench versus the 2 buckets of the rhino
(which are not very comfy either, thats why almost every rhino I have ever seen has the seats swapped out)
4) The bed size is much better in the Ranger.
5) If you decide to add a rear seat Ranger can be another 3 person Rhino only two. I know you wanted a back seat but also wanted to keep the use of the bed. It would not be hard to make the rear seat a safe "quick release" set up.

The Rhino got the attention of the sand dunes crowd, who could throw $10K or $20K at it in trick aftermarket stuff Because they NEED it

Re: Ranger vs Rhino why did you go Ranger?

I went Ranger because:

(1) The wider front seat for 3 adults
(2) The bed will haul 1000 lbs vs. about 400 in the Rhino
(3) Towing capacity of 2000 lbs vs. 1000 with the Rhino
(4) Top speed of 50 mph vs. 40 mph in the Rhino

I suppose those are the main reasons I chose a Ranger over a Rhino.

BIG!

The Electonic Fuel Injection helps too!

After our trip up to Crown King we decided the clearance is also a good thing
The Rhinos in the group were scrapping pretty good. I can honestly say w/ my lift I only had a couple of bad scrapes. The other Ranger in the group that didn't have a lift, was also scrapping, but again, not as bad as the Rhinos.

The Ride also is so much nicer...

I was on a ride with my Inlaws who own a Rhino. and we were leading the way... it was a rocky trail. We were just visiting and having a nice little ride, it did not feel rough to us. We then looked back and we were alone. So we called on the radio and they were coming along. When they got there they said "Holy cow you ride sooo much smoother than us.... we were geting BEAT to DEATH back there" Sure you can add 5k and get a long travel on a Rhino and make it smooth, Oh yea and a CDI box for another few 100 dollars (to keep up with a stock ranger), Run snorkles to get your air filters out of the dirt...(custom work $$$) Oh yea but you still got a carb so when you go up north your performance SUCKS!

Oh well thats just my thoughts..

The Rhino, Teryx, and the RZR are more sport utlity vehicles than the full sized ranger which is an utilty vehicle. If you are riding on more open and wide trails it does not matter what type of vehicle you are using. If you are taking a lot of people with you than go with the bigger machine. With only one or two people, you can go more places with the narrower vehicle. The RZR is a lot of fun and good on gas milage. It is pretty fast too. I bought mine because of the 50 inch width. Otherwise I would have bought another 4-wheeler. Whatever you get, I hope it does exactly what you want it to do. One other thing, I get tired if I drive a 4-wheeler all day. I don"t get tired driveing the RZR all day.

Re: Ranger vs Rhino why did you go Ranger?

I researched before I purchased my 700 Ranger Xp now owned by Larry G. I purchased it over the Rhino and I had a Rhino on order. The reason I liked it was due to the Ranger has fuel injection. The new rhino was going to have fuel injection but I didn't want to be the guinea pig for it. Also I like the towing and hauling payloads more than the Rhino. My Aunt has a Rhino and yet it is very nice, I would still take my old Ranger over one. It is American Made which sounds great these days. I guess one thing we all need to ask is what do you plan on doing with it? Mostly trail? Mostly Farm or Work? There is aftermarket products for the ranger to get the steering and seating better. And also power steering as well. I loved my Ranger the short time I had it, and still miss it on some of the day to day things I do. I went to a polaris RZR for a couple of reasons. I missed the fourwheeler style of riding but loved the protection the riders have with the roll bars. So it is still sporty and easy to get around the woods. This leads to the next reason I like it. The trails I ride I had to cut several limbs and small trees to get around. With the RZR I can get around good.

Why not the Tryx? Brand new to the Side x Side market. 1st year normally is a few good changes. Polaris has been running the same equipment on there other products so it is pretty well good to go. Still every maker has a few bugs to work out.

The RZR and Ranger Rides the smoothest of all Side X Sides I have been on. So decide what you are needing to do with it and you choose the right one. Hope this has helped you some.

Josh

Re: Ranger vs Rhino why did you go Ranger?

THANKS EVERYONE! I knew I wanted the Ranger but having all of your input has helped my case with the husband (little did I know Friday afternoon he went and tested all 4 models and had been swayed to "Rangerland" also) We have 2 growing girls, horses and big dogs, so the size was a huge factor for me, I also think the size makes them look tougher!

Anyone headed up north for the holiday? we plan to hit the Cinders with the new ride! It's great riding and the cooler weather makes a nice weekend. Happy Trails!
