front diff oil

OK AZ. I posted similar on the PRC. I put the lucas 75-90 syn in the rear diff, big change on the noise. Thought about putting it in the front, but it has the hillyard clutch. Has anybody ran anything other than polaris in the front diff long enough to know if it is causing a problem with the clutch? AND what are you running in the front diff
Are any of you running anything different in the Transmission, if so WHAT?? Let me know thanks

Re: front diff oil

As for putting gear oil in the front diff, I don't know the answer to that. As far as what I am running in mine, I just switched over to Amsoil. Here is what I put in:

POLARIS P.N./NAME QTY NEEDED AMSOIL PRODUCT TO USE PRODUCT CODE SIZE ORDER QTY
2871281/2876244 2 Quarts Formula 4-Stroke 0W-40 AFFQT QT 2
Engine Oil

2871653 18-oz Severe Gear 75W-90 SVGQT QT 1
Rear Gear Case Lube

2876251 6.75-oz Automatic Trans Fluid ATFQT QT 1
Demand Drive Fluid

2873602 Total 15.2oz Series 2000 Chaincase Lube TCCBE 12-oz 2
Trans/Transfer case

If you are interested, check below in our sponsor section for the Amsoil dealer I used. Prices are more than reasonable shipped to your door.

Re: front diff oil

Right now I'm running the polaris stuff. When I find the Lucas 50w tranny fluid I'm going to change to that. I tried the lucas 75/90 in the front diff and it didn't make any change in the noise, so I'm switching back to the polaris stuff. The 75/90 in the rear made a big diff in the noise coming from it, and since there is NO hillyard clutch back there I'm going to keep running that.

Re: front diff oil

Here's a quote from the Corp on what is recommended for the front diff. It will be interesting to compare prices

Hello Steven,
I have received an email from our Dept. originating from your email address. There is only one oil that Polaris approves for use in your Ranger front drive - Polaris Demand Drive Premium LT Hub Oil. This is the common oil sold in Polaris dealers and is the only certified oil Polaris will recommend.

There are three other alternatives that are approved by Hilliard. First is John Deere oil labeled as J20D. Second, Mobil Fluid LT. Third is Gulf Low Temperature Tractor Oil SAE 5W-20 API GL-4. The last two are more common and can be found in many tractor supply stores. Feel free to contact me directly with any other concerns or questions pertaining to the front drive. Thank you in advance,

I think this will give us a better Idea of what to run
Some names have been taken out on the preference
