Wheel Offset

Hi all...

I'm getting my Ranger ready for the upcoming dune season and one of the items is to achieve a wider stance. Long travel suspension and it's hefty price tag is out

So...I just installed 2" wheel spacers which does give it a better stance +4 overall.

Now I'm looking into wheels (probably ITP SS's and sorry for those that don't like them) with a wider offset (2+5, 3+5).

What offset do you Ranger (and even non-Ranger) owners suggest? Off the top of my head i'm not sure what stock/factory is...(5+2?)

Re: Wheel Offset

I like the ITP SS wheels. And I would not go to crazy with a lot of offset. You have already put 2" spacers on then add the wheel offset and you will put more stress on the wheel bearings. If you don't mind changing them every year or two then do it. Get us some pictures when you can.

Re: Wheel Offset

been there, done that

I used to have 1.5" spacers on the rear, when I had factory wheels .

Brought the tires out nice and even with the bed.

Then I bought 14" SS112.

For the front they are 14x6 and all have the same offset 4+2 (there is no wide offset wheel you just use spacers)

For the rear I went with the 14x8 and the wide offset 3+5 (as apposed to the normal 5+3)
I tried leaving the spacers on the rear for awhile
It just didnt look right, and seemed to make the tires lean (I cant remember if they leaned out or in ? )
But they looked wrong . and I worried about breakage due to the extra leverage

So I took the rear spacers off and I just run the wide offset wheels on the rear, and the 1.5" spacers on the front.

I really like the look now

By the way with the wide offset wheels without spacers, it will still look wider than what you have now.
(and you can sell the spacers on here )

Couple helpful links:

http://www.itptires.com/wheel_chart_2009.htm (you want tab "Utility 1")

http://www.itptires.com/sidebyside.html

There are some good deals on wheels & tires in town.
And you can sell your factory wheels & tires pretty easily ( I should know I have switched wheels & tires 4 times )

by the way, I dont know anyone that doesnt like the SS wheels

Re: Wheel Offset

this is wide rear offset , and 1.5 spacers on the front only
(the rear tires are still sticking out from the bed at least an 1")

This pic is with the spacers and the wide offset. Can you see how they look like they lean in at the top

Re: Wheel Offset

Thanks again Scooby. Yes, good point about the spacers and offset wheel combo. I might be fine for the moment if I just keep the factory wheels/tires. I've been too busy (lazy) to take pictures of how it looks. Oh, and the negative ITP wheels comments came from a few forums I'm on (mostly ATV) that they aren't fans of the tire/wheel setup. I'm really happy with the ITP wheel/tires on my quads though
