Gun Rack

I am looking for a good gun rack for my ranger. I installed a Koplin vertical rack but with floor being plastic it seems to wiggle an awful lot. Looking to replace it.. Does anyone have a good suggestion

Re: Gun Rack

I recently went an inexpensive route for a gun rack in my RZR. I got a simple rubber clamp at Cabela's called a blind side mount or something similar. Pkg. of 4 was $10. It holds my shotgun very nicely. It only holds the barrel. I just sit the stock in the little are between the seats, and attached the barrel holder between the seats, up high on the panel behind the seats. In fact there's room for two in that location. Works well, keeps the shotgun very stable there. Good luck

Re: Gun Rack

I think this is the product Rotorpaul was refering to, it is called a Blind Frame Gun Barrel Holders Item:XJ-019314 .
It is from Cabelas at this link. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0048516019314a&type=product&cmCat=SEAR CH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=8&_D%3Ahas JS=+&selectedPerPage=72&Nty=1&hasJS=true&Ntt=DUCK+ BLIND&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Go.x=10&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2F en%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1
You can follow some of the links on this site to other ideas that may work.

I have a gun rack mounted to the back of my RZR cage for extra guns. Inside, the RZR, I just bungee cord two guns to the grab handle. I don't think the full size ranger has a grab handle. Just about any cage mount system would work. Quick access may be a problem with some systems. I think Rotorpaul's suggestion may work and the price is right.
Be sure and read the Cabelas customers reviews, they may not be strong enough to hold up. But at that price, it may be worth a try. Cold weather seems to be a problem, causing them to crack. Good idea, though, something else could be adapted to work similar.

I've heard of alot of people having the same problem. I brought one a couple of months ago but have'nt installed it yet. I got a buddy that's going to make me a better base plate for mine and he said he was going to bolt it to each side of the frame. Havent took it to him yet but u may want to check on somebody making you a different base plate.

Re: Gun Rack

I have an 07 XP and I've got 6 scabbard tech gun racks. You can go online to www.scabbardtech.com to see them. He even sells a mounting kit for the Ranger. These scabbards really protect guns very well and a velcro strap on top secures the gun to the scabbard. The only mod's I made to his standard scabbards are that I wanted to mount 3 guns and his Ranger mount only does 2. I also secured the bottom of the scabbards to the rear bed so that they were more secure. Good luck.[/img]

Re: Gun Rack

Well I decided to get rid of the Kolpin rack and bought a Power Rack from Great Days. . It is adjustable for almost UTV's and clamps onto the roll cage. (2 thumb screws). I mounted it at the high enough to still dump the cargo box. . If dumping is not important you can mount it lower or expand it to handle 3 or 4 guns. We will see how it works in a couple of weeks. .

Re: Gun Rack

Well I had a chance to use the rack this weekend.. It appears to hold the guns OK but with rough ground and vibration it did not stay at the high mount.
It slid down to just above the bed.. I will have to try clamps on the roll cage to prevent it from slipping down,,, Will let you know

Try the gungrabber.com this unit holds them tight and won't wobble out of the holder.

The guns held well in the rack but the rack slowly slid down the roll cage so you can't raise the bed.. I just installed 2 muffler clamps that I sprayed black just under the rack and that should handle job
