engine problems

I have a 2009 ranger crew. The engine will start and run but it starts doggin down when you apply throttle. it will run fine up to about 10 MPH then start dogging down as I apply more throttle. I've ran two tanks of gas thru it from different sources so i know its not water in the gas.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

It sound like you and vinson2000 have a similar problem.

Re: engine problems

Check for excessive throttle cable play.

Re: engine problems

The pic didn't come out but I am having similar issues with my 08' XP. Where is the diaphram located at.

FYI, if you ever see pictures that wont link, such as above with the red X, right click on the X, select properties, you can then copy the address and paste it into your address bar. This will bring up the picture.

Re: engine problems

I think I answered the other guys post earlier, either that or I forgot to hit post, and I am answering the same one. sounds like restriction in fuel system or restricted exhaust. I would guess fuel. Most likely and restricted filter. I saw where one guy on here replaced filter with a see through filter from napa. Check that first, if problem remains, check fuel pressure and volume. Still has problems, start checking exhaust or even possibly an ignition coil breaking down. I am new to this site as well to the world of rangers. Have not had any problems from mine, I only have around 12 hrs clocked, so I have not had a reason to learn yet. But fuel injection is fuel injection, there are different ways of doing it, but it all works on the same principal. It works by holding a constant pressure on the fuel injector, the injector opens for an amount of time in (milliseconds), determined by the inputs from the engine sensors ( temp, o2, manifold pressure, air flow, ect.) to the computer and then the computer holds the injector open, injecting fuel into the intake port. The amount of time the injector is held open, determines the amount of gas allowed to flow. That is the reason fuel pressure and volume are so important. If it doesn't have the right pressure, the computer has no way of knowing, resulting in less fuel being injected. If the pressure is good at idle, which it sounds like yours is, the engine will run fine. Once demand is put on the system, if there is a restriction, the pressure will drop until the engine leans out bad enough to bogg down or stall.
Hope it helps, David
