home made turn signal kit ?
I want to add signals to my 05 Ranger
![]() I dont want the standard turn signal post thing I just want to use a standard rocker switch (on-off-on) and manually cancel it after I turn. For the front lights I want something like the the small close fitting lights they use on motorcycle fairings. For the rear lights I am just going to drill into the back of my light housings and add another bulb for the signal. (unless someone can instruct me how to use the brake light eliment (if it not to complicated) )I know basically I need 2 front light assemblies (light house or ebay) Flasher (checker, autozone, pepboys) Relay (checker, autozone, pepboys) 3 position switch on-off-on (checker, autozone, pepboys) 2 bulb sockets & bulbs (checker, autozone, pepboys) wire (checker, autozone, pepboys) What am I missing ? school me please ![]()

Re: home made turn signal kit ?
I found this schematic while searching the web.
It doesnt show any relay , so do I need a Relay ![]() Also what gauge wire should I get ? (I was at Harbour Freight the other day and looked at there trailer wiring kits, one without the lights are like $6 this would give me more than enough wire and its already bound together should it would make a nice harness plus the color code should be pretty standard. ![]() ![]()

Re: home made turn signal kit ?
I was at wallyworld today, and they had some cheap marker lights for a trailer they were only $1 a piece so I picked some up I figured I could experiment using these and upgrade later.
I figure I'll try doing this on the floor in my garage first, and if it works, then Ill incorporate it into the ranger ![]() I'll be sure to take some pics and write down p/n's , prices and stores. so if anyone likes the outcome they could easily duplicate it.

Re: home made turn signal kit ?
If you run into any problems, I would contact cisco at http://www.ezturnsignalkit.com. I met this guy last weekend and he explained his process to develop the turn signal kits and the problems using flashers and LED. I think his prior life was in electronics...maybe? Any way, super nice guy and could probably help springboard you past any hurdles.
