AWD problems and reverse light question 2004 6x6

I just purchased a 2004 Ranger 6x6, I have 2 questions needed to be answered. When I switch the button into AWD it doesn't light up. I don't know if it's switching into AWD or just the back wheels are engaged. The other question is I purchased a new indicater panel which shows the position L, H, R, etc. everything works except the "R" light doesn't come on when it's in reverse. Can I check anything for these two problems?

The answer to both problems could be the switch located on gear shift.
Had similar problem with mine. Would not go into AWD. Switch did not light.
Replaced AWD switch & it worked. Then switch light would not light in Hi or Lo,
But did in reverse. Had dealer replace switch, because I could not do it due to Cancer.

It is a tough job based upon what I read in manual.
Costs Approximately $500+ included replacing clutch & belt I bought from Dirty Dawg.
