2005 Ranger 500 4x4 - Need Help
I am having a problem with my ranger. I think it is having a fuel problem. I took off the filter cover and pulled the filter out and the filter has gas on it. The whole inside of the filter housing looks like gas is being pushed back into the housing. The issue that started my look into it was that it wont run full speed. With the pedal to the metal it barely moves. NO Power! I have changed the fuel pump recently. I can't figure it out. Has anyone seen this before.

It sounds like you have some intake valves not closing all the way or bent. I would do a compression check. Have you recently adjusted the valves? Did you replace the fuel pump because of the loss of power?

I changed the fuel pump because it wouldn't do anything. That fixed that problem, but i lost power about a year after the fuel pump. I got it tore down in the garage and the air filter smells and looks like gas was poured on it. the housing also smells like gas and has that film look to it. I can't figure it out. i haven't seen this before.
