New Ranger Owner with Questions
Hi, I recently bought an 800 HD and have some questions ya'll can probably answer.
First, when started the idle speed slowly increases to 1100-1200 rpm where it stabilizes. There is sometimes a hard metallic clunk if the throttle is quickly increased when the drive engages, both high and low range. Sometimes an almost inaudible snick when it engages and sometimes a metallic clunk. Normal? I just barely give it throttle to avoid the sound of the clunk. While I have a trailer to transport the Ranger, I was wondering if there are any full size pickups that a Ranger will fit into the bed? Specifically I have been looking at a 2011 Ford Super Duty 250. Overall I have been very pleased with the Ranger. The suspension, ride, and comfort level are just what this old body needs. The only problem is that my family members also like the Ranger and take it if it is available leaving me with an old golf cart. Thanks, John |

Welcome ,my best guess is the clunk is coming from the clutch. My ranger is an 07 so I can't tell you if it is "normal". I put mine in the back of my 2005 F350 without problem. The size of both vechicles is unchanged so I would think the HD will fit in the new trucks too. You just have to drive over the wheel wells.

From the specs of both vehicles, the Ranger should fit into the bed of a Super Duty, I was curious if it was a common practice.

I usually have a whole crew of wheelers to take so I trailer most of the time. When I am going north alone for hunting or
 g trip's I put it in the bed of the truck.I had an issue once where I left the rear tire's on the tailgate for the 350 mile ride and tweaked the bedsides out just enough to make the tailgate not close right.I pulled the sides back a little with a ratchet strap and It has been fine. Now I take the toolbox out of the truck so the ranger is in the bed all the way. The ranger in the bed of the truck is not an issue as far as weight or height.
