Heat from radiator comeing thru streering column.

2010 800 HD''

There is a lot of heat coming up thru the steering column area....what can I do about this? Driving in the winter it is a welcome thing but I believe this summer it will be hard to take.

Is the air flow needed for cooling or can I block it somehow. Thanks for the comebacks.

Re: Heat from radiator comeing thru streering column.

I had the same concern when I purchased my 2009 ranger 700 HD. I live in Arizona and ride all year, I haven't really noticed it during the summer. It might just be more noticeable during the colder months.

Polaris Flaw. I complained from day one. No one seems to care, dealer or Polaris. There is a guy who makes a heat shield and it seems to work pretty good. To bad Polaris cant figure this out. Also live in Arizona and couldn't ride with flip flops on and the dealer told me just wear shoes. Ranger can be street legal in Az so I don't figure I should dress for the winter so I can ride in the summer!!

And as HavaRanger said, I too felt the blistering heat today on my first ride in my New Ranger Crew, and it's BS to say they shouldnt be driven with flip flops, for Gods sake it's 105 today in Havasu. I cant believe Polaris has no concerns about this problem. Thank God there is an aftermarket cure

After looking at Dans site I didnt see the heat shield listed but it is called the "Foot Saver" and it stops 90% of the blast hitting the top of your foot. This is not to say that there isnt still a lot of heat coming from somewhere and it sucks. I stopped some of it by stuffing foam rubber around the steering shaft. Still working on it though cause the heat in the summer is pretty bad. NSF

Re: Heat from radiator comeing thru streering column.

I HAVE A NEW 2010 RANGER THAT HAS A SERIOUS HEAT ISSUE IN THE PASSENGER AREA. POLARIS CHOOSES NOT TO RESPOND TO MY REQUEST TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE (STILL UNDER WARRANTY). I NEED TO COLLECT A NUMBER OF NAMES THAT ARE AS UNHAPPY AS I AM WITH THE HEAT ISSUE. I INTEND TO CONTACTED THE CONSUMER SAFETY BOARD AND IF THEY GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THEY WILL LAUNCH AN INVESTAGATION AND POSSIBLE RECALL FOR CORRECTION. AS FAR AS I KNOW IT INVOLVES 09..10 AND 11 MODELS. MY RESEARCH TELLS ME IT CAN BE FIX AT A COST AROUND $350.00. MY POSITION IS...IF CAN BE FIXED, WHY IN THE HELL DIDN'T POLARIS DO IT RIGHT AT THE FACTORY? POLARIS ACTUALLY SELLS AN INSULATION KIT THAT WORKS PRETTY GOOD. WHY SHOULD THE CONSUMER PICK UP THE COST OF THIS. POLARIS NEEDS TO COWBOY UP ON THIS ISSUE!
YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT jeburkhart@cox.net TO ADD YOUR NAME TO THE COMPLAINT LIST. I HAVE 4 NAMES SO FAR. I WILL TAKE THE LEAD AND KEEP ALL UP TO DATE ON THE PROGRESS.
THANKS.....BIG WALLY

Name, number, address and email sent!!!!!! I'm glad somebody else thinks this is a Polaris engineering problem and their resposibilty to fix. F---ing ridiculous to suffer like this, not like they are cheap to buy.
