1999 Ranger 6x6 steering issue

I have a 1999 6x6, and the steering is extremely stiff. I thought it was maybe just due to lack of power steering, but if you let go of the wheel during a turn, it will quickly snap back straight. It only wants to go straight. Any thoughts?

Re: 1999 Ranger 6x6 steering issue

How is the tire pressure? Sometimes even 1/2 lb difference side to side can make a huge difference in steering, I seen it often.

Last year we rented a couple 2-up ATV's (CanAm) and on the way back riding one of the ladies commented it was very hard to steer her ATV. They wanted to turn around and take it back to the rental place just a few miles down the trail. I checked the tires and they all were about 5 lbs over the psi needed and the 2 front were not the same psi. Once that was corrected, it was easy to steer. Btw - I had a hard time convincing others on the ride it was tire pressure and had to prove it to them. Many were running the tires over the recommend 4-5 psi.

I haven't thought of that, so it's worth a try. Thanks!
