Winch Help

I installed a superwinch terra 45 on my ranger this weekend and the rocker switch comes with a handlebar mount. What have you guys used to mounth this switch in your rangers? I'm looking for a clean, neat, functional mounting idea and location.

I removed the handlebar stuff and screwed mine to my dash using the long bolts that hold the switch housing together.

It is located just to the right of the part of the dash that comes outward for the steering column, and can be seen in this pic:

I had to drill one hole for the wires, and two small holes for the bolts.

You can see more pics of my install on this page:

I too just installed a Superwinch Terra 45 but mine came with a little hand held remote. I did not even install the rocker switch. I drilled a hole above the key and mounted the plug. The plug has a cap over it and you just plug the remote in when you need it.

I can get some pics tomorrow if that helps but it really looks like just another 12v cig lighter plug.

Thanks

Mine also came with the plug in remote switch. Never really thought about running it into the cab. I wired it in under the hood for now but maybe i'll move it.

I mounted the rocker switch on the gear shift so I can move up and down easily when shifting from F to R when plowing. I put the cable remote through a hole in the back of the glove box, and just keep the remote in there in case it is needed.

Pics.

I wanted to mount my switch on my gearshift as well. Do you have a picture of how you did this? I see polaris makes one for the rzr that already has the switch in the shift lever but I'd rather just do it myself.

Here is a picture of how I mounted the switch onto the shift handle. I just used the standard handlebar mounting hardware.

Good deal

I looked at mounting mine that way but was afraid it would keep slipping off since that plastic is kind of slippery. Looks like I will try it that way. Thanks you guys for the help.

I also mounted the Superwinch Terra 45 on my 2009 700XP. It is a great product! I mounted the rocker switch just to the right of the steering column by pulling out the screw into the dashboard. It is out of the way there and not likely to get pushed by accident. I did have the change the orientation of the switch in the bracket but it was easy to do by removing 2 screws.
