starter change
Hi I have a 2005 500cc 4x4 that I think has a bad starter.I have 12volts from the solenoid to the starter.If I let the machine set for a few hours it starts up but once I drive a little and shut it off and try to restart nothing happens(hear the pump start)with the starter.But It looks hard to get at it.Is this something a dealer should do? Thanks Rich

The guy at the dealer has to take out the same starter you do. If you have the ambition and the tools there's no reason to pay to have it done. On the other hand I'm in the middle of putting U'joints in our Ranger Crew, kind of regretting not taking it to the dealer. What a PIA!! I'll know how to do it more easily on the time around though.

I looked it up in a manual a while back and it does look like a big chore. But I've never tried it so not really sure if it's as bad as it sounded...
