Nice Muddin Videos and nice to see you made it thru!

Lots of guys here hook up back up lights because we do allot of night trail riding this time of year.

I know they use a relay and wire it to the reverse indicator switch on one leg and then power the lights from the battery or an added fuse block. A few guys tried it direct from the reverse switch and fried it so a relay and additional power source is pretty much necessary. I have the wireing diagram somewhere around here but it is the same as you would do for adding extra lights.

Re: playing in the mud on the ranger

There is a discussion in "modified Tech Discussion " that gives a couple of sets of instructions for hooking up a backup light using a relay and either
a 2 wire light (hot and ground) or a one wire light (hot only) and it works neat.. I did mine in less than a hour . Hardest part was to determine where to put the light

Re: playing in the mud on the ranger

With a two wire light you have to wire both the ground and power leads but you can mount them anywhere (on the cargo box or plastic trim)

With a one wire light you just wire the hot lead and the light picks up the ground from the light mount bracket thus it must be mounted on metal like the frame.

So a lot depends where you plan to mount the light(s)

Re: playing in the mud on the ranger

id probably mount it right under the bed idk if theres a metal spot to hook it to. id be concerned about it shorting out though, do they make lights that would work but are weather proof?

Re: playing in the mud on the ranger

I used a NAPA light that is rubber coated so it is water proof.. If you look at the cross member that mounts the muffler there was a perfect hole right in the middle... I thought that might too close to the muffler so I drilled out the little hole to the left side to fit the mounting screw and that is where I mounted mine... It is about in the middle of the bed and inside the side rails so I don't have to worry about brush when I back up in the dark
