Plow mounted - bring on the snow!

With my 66-inch Polaris Glacier-II Snow-Glide plow on seemingly permanent back-order and snow flakes threatening, I broke down today and picked up a 60-inch all-steel Polaris plow. Mounted and ready to go, chains and sandbags standing by in the garage.

Hi Redmoose,
I'm looking at that same setup but not sure on the Polaris or Warn with the 72" when I buy my 6x6. Let us know what you think of the setup it would be much appreciated.

ranger4hunting, I'll post something here once the snow hits. In the meantime I used the 60" Polaris steel plow blade yesterday to level some ground adjacent to my sidewalk in preparation for winter snow-plowing. Last month I figured out that I needed to pull an embankment back about 8 inches so I'd only be plowing snow and not soil all winter. I did the first 4 inches by hand with a shovel a few weeks back and it took 90 minutes or more. The second 4 inches of embankment were higher and looked like twice as much work so I put it off. Yesterday the Ranger and I finished the job in about 2 minutes, including clearing the ground I'd leveled with the Polaris blade. What a joy!

I've plowed twice now with the 60" Glacier steel plow, and it does a good job. With more snow depth it will be great to have the taller 66" plow to handle a greater volume of snow, and the extra 6 inches in width will speed up the work, too.

Finally had some real snow to plow today - about 6 inches. The Ranger tore through it as easily as when I was plowing just an inch or two. I'm carrying 200 pounds of sandbags in the bed for traction, and the tire chains are still riding in the bed, too. They're still new in the box.

I plan to keep it. The steel blade has come in handy for dirt-work and such, which the 66" won't stand up to. I bought a second frame so I can easily change between the two once the 66" finally comes in.
