Polaris got it right with this one! The doors provide a great seal, full glass windshield blocks all air, the power is phenomenal. They added a center console, hinged seats and it is much quieter! Did I mention the power it has (60hp)? My only constructive criticism would be the gear shifter. It is way to easy to be in between gears and when you take of you hear it grinding. If you just take a few seconds to make sure its in the right groove, it's no problem. LOVE THE 900 CREW!
Matthew, I have the same year and model, with the same issue of grinding if not completely in the gear slot.
My only other comment is the potential when washing it, to get water into the air intake joint behind the middle back seat, and at the belt/clutch air intake when washing the engine. Had to replace clutches & belt with about 10 hours on it.
I haven't sprung for the doors yet. Do you have canvas or poly doors?
Other than that, I enjoy mine. It's a great ATV/UTV for a first-timer well over 50 years old, and I look for reasons to use it.
Can you offer a little more insight as to why you had to replace the belt? I hit a puddle yesterday and now it makes a weird squeaking sound when i get to 2500 rpms up to 3300 rpms. I never heard this until I hit that puddle. It's pretty annoying. Im at 9 hrs.
I got the canvas doors and they fit like a glove. Those coupled with the glass shield, make for a super air tight machine.
You got some mud in your belt and clutch case, I'd pull the drain plug on the case and run some more clean water through it, and wash it all out, and let it set the rest of the day, preferrably just pull the CVT cover and wash it all out and let it air dry the rest of the day, don't move it you'll just slip the belt.
Why the other guy had to replace his belt was due to running it contaminated too long it just smokes the belt and ruins them really fast.
I also had about 10 hours on mine, and partly due to not knowing the downside to not having a back window, was washing dust from mine after each outing.
I also wasn't aware of the poorly designed air tube joint just behind the middle back seat -and- the Clutch Outlet under the bed; which are undesirable water entry points.
When it developed a high pitched squeal, even while in Park, the dealer apparently didn't have spares, but did remedy it; and listed on the repair order that they replaced the belt and clutches from another new, unsold 2014 900 crew.
This is my first atv/utv, and I am only avoiding water in those problem areas, and still don't have the issues resolved.
The search feature on the ranger forums can help you find other discussions about these problem areas.
Okay gusy, I pulled off the belt casing and inside looked like it came from the factory. No dust, no dirt, no water, no nothing. If you are sitting in the driver seat, you hear the noise coming from the back right side of the unit. It sounds like its in the engine to me. Everything feels fine, runs fine, just has this squealing rattle at that certain rpm and once you exceed 3500 rpm, it disappears. So basically, every time I stop and go, you hear this squealing until you hit 3500 rpms. Any other thoughts?
Thanks for the suggestion, I tipped the bed up so the latch wasn't connected. Still does it. Again, it wont start until it heats up to 170 degrees. up until that point, there is no squeal. Neutral, park, low, high, they all do the sound between 2500 rpm up to 3500 rpm. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take any other thoughts. I would take it to the dealer but its a 2 hour drive. I will take it there but I thought I would see if I could find and fix the problem on my own.

I would take it back to the dealer if its under warranty. I have the can am camander , you want to talk about smoking belts, the can am will smoke the belt if you lug it to much you have to drive them kinda like a snow cat, get on the throttle fast ,and were its new brake it in right, drive it alittle hard at different speeds and conditions. it makes a huge differnts I know before when we had the side by side we had atv's I didn't ride the wifes much when we were braking them in , and I drove mine alittle ruff and for some reason it had a lot more power after it was broke in than my wifes ,and she went every weres mine went but she babyed hers a lot more. Don't get me rong I take very good care of my machines, my sxs is going on 3 yrs old and it still looks new. Im glad to hear you like the new 900 crew I am thinking I will trade my can am in in a year or 2 for a Polaris 900 crew I have been waiting for them to move the engine out from under the cab, it is a huge problem with the camander . good luck and enjoy your new toy.
Drive sheaves got some mud in them still? Can't see this being an internal engine problem, possibly swing by the dealer with it and let them listen they may be able to pinpoint the cause for you. The rest of us can just speculate not having the machine in front of us.
