Installing a new drive belt

Thought I should carry a spare drive belt, so I picked up a new one at the dealer. I asked if I need and clutch pullers to put the new belt on? He said I could move the clutches by hand to get the belt on. Is it this easy??

I have yet to find any thing on the 1999 Ranger 6x6 with the 500 motor easy to work on. Any tips, tricks and write ups would be great, thanks.

Re: Installing a new drive belt

If it is like the 700 Ranger It was just removing the cover, rolling it over the small pulley first. Then to install put it on the large pulley first then roll it over the small pulley. I did a write up on it. It was easy.

I agree, easy to change. Can be done in the woods with a few tools....

Easy, that is good news. I did a search, but nothing came up. I will hunt for the write up.

Re: Installing a new drive belt

So I finally got the bolts out of the guard, but I think the 6x6 was built around the guard. I haven't found the combination on how to get the guard out yet

Twist turn and pull! if it is anything like the RZR it is a pain. Plus one down side to the RZR is it has no drain plug andif it did you couldn't get to it.

Re: Installing a new drive belt

I'm in the process of taking the seats out so I can get the center console out. Then maybe it will come out the top since I need to check and clean the new fuel filter also.

Re: Installing a new drive belt

So I got the new belt on and I was reading the on line manual and since I am saving the old belt for a spare. The manual said to mark your old belt so if you use it again, you install it in the same direction as it was in.

Just thought I would post a note on that since there were others talking about carrying a spare belt.
