Sand in my....

So, while out in the dunes, I got caught in a bit of a sand storm.... and now i am plagued with sand in my marine grade polk audio speakers... has anyone run into this or have any ideas, other than buying new speakers. I already tried soft compressed air and also water... no luck.

Re: Sand in my....

I spent 3 days in a sand storm in Yuma, Arizona. I also experienced a volcano eruption and ash in Alaska. If you have not already, you need to change the air filter on your machine! As for your speakers, even with marine grade, I don't think water helped any bettor than wiping down with a damp rag. If the speakers still play, put on some low frequency tunes, turn the amp up, and go for a ride on a real wash boardy road. Then wipe and vacuum the speakers down again. Compressed air will just make the fine sand particles more lodged in the speakers as will water. A good vibrating should dislodge the fine sand. Turning the speakers face down and placing a piece of plywood on them and then rapid tapping with a hammer may help. If this don't work, you can always get a bigger hammer.
