okay some of us have done this. A quick fix for stubborn tires that all but refuse to seat on the wheel properly. Spray a little starter fluid around the bead and light it, and poof (or KABOOM) it's seated. Those of us that have done this are almost certainly aware of the dangers, mainly the tire blowing apart and seriously injuring yourself or others. Here is something else to think about... Nails. With all that instant pressure in the tire, it can turn any screws or nails stuck in your tire into projectiles, which happened to me tonight. I am very lucky to be able to see what I'm typing right now, as the nail in my case was redirected away from my right eye by Z87 approved safety glasses. I'm not a salesman or safety freak (and i have the scars to prove that) just a regular joe sharing my story with everyone so this accident is not duplicated with a much worse outcome. The thought of a nail blowing out of the tire never even crossed my mind, i was however petrified that the tire might burst and lob my finger off.
