Problem with awd with 2003 Ranger Series 11
I have a 2003 Ranger series 11. I'm having a problem with it sometimes NOT allowing the front wheel drive to engage. I ran a ground wire directly to the front gear housing and to the battery negative. (manual says it's suppose to get at least 11 volts to allow it to kick in) I checked wires first and it would sometimes get below 11 before grounding. It then got about 14 volts. I also put a volt meter on to monitor the voltage. It worked ok for about 6 weeks and now is not always engaging into awd even though it's getting the correct voltage. What's bad is you never know when it is not going to work. It doesn't do this all the time. Anyone had this problem? It only has 193 hours on it.

Had similar problem.
Replace AWD switch. Also check hubs are full with fluid. Hope this helps. Robert |
