I love my 2010. No problems after 120hrs other than braking both rear springs. One at about 30 hrs and the second around 75. Not sure why. Both covered under warranty with no hassle by my dealer. Put a 2 inch lift in it earlier this year and it made a huge difference in the mud with stock tires. Doesn't feel any tippier than before. Lots of mods in mind for the future.

Do they really fit in the beds of trucks as well as they advertise

It want fit in my truck bed, but it may fit in long bed, but I believe that it still may rest on the tailgate. Not really sure.

I was interested in putting 2 inch lift on mine as well. Does it effect the ride or safety of the ranger? What does the modification cost?

lowering

I lowered mine and added hydraulics. It's really a 500 efi but why quibble over 100cc. It fits nicely on the roof of my Sion with roof racks which by the way are raised 4". I do need to chock the unit really good and just slow down a bit more in the corners when loaded or it cracks the car windshield. Anybody else having this problem? Going to change out the headlights, seats, shocks, tires, wheels, bumpers, dump bed, ignition, battery, exhaust, steering wheel, shifter, oil filter, metric nuts and bolts, add an over rev chip and a carbon fiber glove box lid soon. Then a week after that I'm adding a 13 light roof mounted lightbar, turbo charging and a flag mount. I am keeping the pea soup green color because they ARE the fastest and you can walk right by them in the woods and not even see them. I lost one already some where just south of Plymouth!

Fits in my 8ft box with the tail gate up and 3-4 inches on each side. My lift was about $90 after shipping from high lifter. It took some mods to make it work properly in the front. Its a spring spacer type and did not work as advertised although the brackets for the rear suspension were perfect. Ride and handling are like factory.

I'd really like to hear other stories from other 400 owners. Has it been reliable, any issues I should know about? Or maybe just some siding stories.

Yes, they will fit in just fine in a long bed. I have the 2012 Sunset Red 500. I used two 6x6's wedged at the back and put them beside the wheel wells. Then I placed a few 2x8's across them from in front of the wheel wells to the front of the truck cab (they don't need to be solid since the ranger wheels are running mostly on the 6x6. Then I could run my ranger right up to the cab and with the wheels touching and the ranger sloped up toward the front, the tail gate closes (I have a 1997 F350).
Then I put a winch on my ranger after making my own mount for it. Now, the winch cable roller fairleads would go through my rear window if I ran the ranger right to the front. So I put a 6x6 block up at the front of the bed for each wheel to run up against. My tailgate will not quite close. But this system allows my ramps to slide under the ranger and allows me to tie the ranger in with only two straps. The straps I use to hold the ramps in place for loading and unloading then get used to hold the tailgate up as high as possible (it will almost close and if I used 4x4's instead of the 6x6's it just might - but it might also break my window!)

I screwed the 2x2 on the under side of the 2x8's to keep the 6x6 from slowly moving around on rough roads. The whole contraption is loose and can be put in or taken out in a minute. I just used some old cedar 6x6 I had - you could easily nail some 2x6's together to save costs. But I already had the wood so it cost me nothing.

That sounds like quite a system - and it calls for photos. I can't really picture what you've done, but I'd sure like to.
