This is a discussion on What kind of Trickle Charger? within the General Discussion forums, part of the Polaris Ranger Forum category; What's the best trickle charger for my Ranger 500 EFI stock battery? A coworker mentioned the SEM-1562a from Schumacher. Anyone have any input?...

Battery Minder

I bought a standard 12 volt battery tender from Fred Meyer (like Walmart) for $39 and have had no trouble with it. It came with three connectors - clamps, cigarette lighter plug, and ring-style bolt-on leads. I put the ringed leads on my Ranger permanently and ran the quick-connect out under the side of the seat by the driver's door. Easy!

Same one I use for my Rhino right now. It works great and you can buy extra connectors, or make your own and attach the leads to other vehicle batteries so you can switch the charger from one piece of equipment to another without having to disconnect the battery or worry about connecting battery cables and such all the time just plug in and go.

I've used the Deltran Battery Tender Plus for many years on my motorcycles and ATV's and can heartily recommend them. It has extended the life of my batteries substantially.

Mine is like the one REDMOOSE speaks of. From Wal-Mart and made by Die Hard. K-Mart had the same one and it has the multiple leads with a charging light and a full charge light when it is fully charged. When it needs it it gives it a shot till it is charged up, and holds it, till it needs more. I've have it hooked up to my pickup in my pole barn, when I was gone last winter for two weeks in Florida. Worked great, wouldn,t be without one. Cost me about $35.00

I have a Yuasa charger that is (or looks like) their current model YUA1200901. Works great and comes with pigtails to permanently clamps on your battery posts so you just have to plug it in (like some photos above) and also has clamps so you can use it on other batteries. Does a good job.
