steering pulls hard right why?

while driving my ranger i noticed it pulls very hard to the right, so hard if you let go of the wheel it would probably cause an accident. why would this occur? tire pressure is equal on both sides. where should i start to look at first?

I think I would look at the toe in an make sure the tires are tracking straight

What's the toe in. I know nothing about mechanics. Could you be more specific. Thanks

Which one, toe in or toe out would cause my ranger to pull hard to the right?just read a thread from Scooby (with pics) and I think I can handle the adjustment if it is that for sure what the cause is.

For "toe" to cause that bad of a pull, the wheel that was out of adjustment would likely be visibly out of adjustment. Toe is the measurment of the distance between the front of the front tires and the rear of the front tires. If the front of the the tires are pointing toward each other then the tires are toed in. If the tires are pointing away from each other then they are toed out. If the distance between the front and rear of the tires are even then toe is even or at 0. The only way to can change is if you actually adjust it or if a tie rod end has been bent. I had a similar problem with my Ranger 400. It ended up being a small peice of tree branch that got wedged in between the rim and the brake rotor. Start your search there, could be the front or rear tire. Let us know what you find.

I would jack the front end of the Ranger up and support it with jack stands. Then start moving things around - grab a front wheel and move it. All linkage should be tight and without slop. If there is play in any steering linkage or in a ball joint, that will indicate that it needs to be replaced. Trying to fix alignment is worthless when there are worn parts.

If the Ranger just started doing this, then you most likely have broken, bent, or worn parts that need to be dealt with.

I had the same problem under hard acceleration. As it turned out i blew my rear passenger outer CV joint apart. I never noticed it at low speeds because it was in AWD at the time. Just a thought.

I've heard you can loosen the two bolts at the bottom of the strut that holds the brakes and wheel and all that good stuff and turn the wheel where it needs to be. Byt uf its leaning in or oyt something is probably bent.
