I sit on mine all the time, It has also seen its share of huge pieces of wood thrown on it and no damage done. just like everything else... bulletproof

If here is a question about weight the tailgate comes off very easy.. Just release the cables and when it is hanging straight down the lest side will slide out (cut in housing) and the right side just slips off of the pin. ( very much like a pickup bed) . Then every one can sit on the bed itself..
