4WD cutting out - dealer proposed major surgery!
My 2004 Polaris Ranger 4x4 has unreliable of late in engaging the 4WD in either locked or unlocked differential mode. AWD dash light turns on, and voltage is getting to the transfer case, but khalf the time the AWD will not engage. Dealer seems baffled and wants to replace entire transfer case for about $1,500. I just wonder whether it's a solenoid or relay issue that would be a lot easier to replace, but I don't know how this electronic AWD feature works. Any advice would be appreciated.
