another thing: Carb Rebuild kit
Well I just placed an order for two brand new front tires for my Ranger thanks to the advice that I got from many here. Thanks to those that weighed in for tubes as well but I had to consider the vast area of very rough terrain that I plan to be hunting far from home.
So anyway I am thinking it might be a good time to rebuild the carb. I had seen somewhere in my earlier searches where I could at least get the gasket set. Would like to get a kit with new needle and such as well but at least the gasket set would be good. Can't remember where, any suggestions where to get a kit? Joe

Re: another thing: Carb Rebuild kit
As always, I have to recommend you begin searching for parts at our sponsors.
These guys pay the bills and keep the site free for us all to enjoy. We do have a few who are Polaris dealers or have access to pure polaris parts so thats where you would go to get dealer only stuff for your machine. When you do go to a sponsors site be sure to mention you found them here as many will give a members discount and work a little harder to make you satisfied. They all appreciate hearing the exposure from here is bringing them business. As for the carb rebuild kit, if it is available from Polaris then a sponsor can surely get you one. At times, I have found it is just as easy and not much more expensive to just buy a complete new carb. Depends upon what is possibly wrong with yours and what parts are available in kit form to repair it. I have gone both ways in the past-(with Carbs) ![]() Gary

As Gary stated you can purchase them at these sponsors and they give some of the best pricing and offer shipping.
Shoals Outdoor Sports , Fox Valley ATV , Motor sports Super Store. If you make a purchase from one of those please let them know where you found them at. Welcome to Polaris Ranger Forum. Josh

Re: another thing: Carb Rebuild kit
again, good idea I will go check sponsors. From the ads posted at the sponsor listing on home page I could not tell that any of them were Polaris dealers, I should look more closely. It would be kind of nice if there was a place within this forum that we could all submit what we are looking for and would send out to all sponsors simultaneously. I'm not thinking of this in terms of price competition but to keep from having to try to guess what sponsor might carry what and search their site. I am on a cable modem but even that is slow in Nome compared to other places in the world and it is tedious to search several websites.
I will certainly try the ones listed here. I too have thought about just getting a new carb, but those seem to push $300 and I'm thinking a rebuild kit could probably be had for around $50 (based on car ones I have bought in the past). I would not mind saving the frustration of rebuilding though! Thanks again for responses, Joe

Kind of like a "WISH LIST" type of section? HMMM, Not sure how something like that would work but greater minds may be at work and thinking. Carbs can be funny ducks. Some are pretty easily rebuilt although tedious. Others are nearly impossible to do much with because the parts simply are not available or the parts that are available only address some of the issues that might be the culprit. I have worked on quite a few and some that I wished I had never even looked at or opened. I think you could get a good idea which way to proceed once you find out what rebuild kits are available and what parts they include. A few of them I had to let soak in chemicles for a few days to clear as best as possible some of the port tubes you just can't get to. Others simply don't have replacable valve seats and once they are worn out they become trash. Someone here might be able to provide an exploded view of your exact carb that might help in determining the best solution. Dale at Dirty Dawg might also have some excellent alternative ideas if all else fails. Sometimes the original stock carb is much more expensive then a much better after market one that could have your machine doing wheel stands. Just kidding ofcourse but I know allot of bikers scrap stock carbs for bigger and better ones from makers like Mikuni and for less then stock new ones. Research! Do as you are doing and ask the questions! Hopefully someone here can direct you to what might work. Gary
