Changing Ranger Shock Mount Locations

I noticed on my '09 Ranger that there are extra upper shock mounts for the front and rear. It looks like you can move the top of the shock outward to give it less angle. Has anyone done this and did it provide any lift?

It might give you just a little lift but it will make it ride rougher. I did it to the back of my 08 and it did ride different.

They are there for the extra weight , like the front if you install a snow plow, and the rear if you haul heavy loads. Maybe a little lift but not worth it when you can get a rubberdown lift kit and it still ride like factory.

How hard is this to do?

If I jack the rear end up off the ground will the springs still try to elongate when I unbolt the top mount bolt?

My rear sits lower than the front & I thought this tweak might even them out & take some roll out of the ride.

Did you get new shocks RDB and if so why not post some picks and opinions about your upgrade.

Re: Changing Ranger Shock Mount Locations

Ok put shocks on and all I can say is wow this works a lot less body roll .The way they work through the umps is really good all I have to do is bump up the rode height a little and we be done for now

RDB how did the walker evans shocks affect the stiffness of your ride? We do a lot of desert riding (over rocks, etc) and the stock shocks make for a pretty stiff ride. I've been thinking of upgrading the shocks but want to have the ability to soften the ride.
