2005 Ranger 500 4x4 won't shift into high when running (almost engages but just scrapes gears). Will go into high before starting engine and works fine. Goes into L N and Reverse when running. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hmm...

It sounds like perhaps your shifter is out of alignment or you have something in there bent? I'm assuming the grinding noise is simply your gearbox not fully engaging into high gear.

I don't know alot about these things I have had mine only a short time but maybe at least its something to check out? Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the idea Gearsnatcher,
The idle was too high, could not get it to idle down with the adjustment screw. Had an air leak in the rubber intake boot, tightened up the boot clamp and a couple of other clamps and adjusted the idle down to where it sounded like it was barely running, everything worked fine.
