Project Police Ranger

With the way fuel prices went thorugh the roof last summer and me wanting something that would get us a little more "public friendly" and out in the open kind of vehicle I decided to approach our Town Council about the purchase of a Ranger. I located a 2007 500 2x4 demo unit at my local dealer Wayne's Polaris in La Grange Ky. with only 30 hours and got a great price on it. The Council gave me the green light so I didn't blink twice, grabbed a Durango, my trailer and headed for the Polaris dealer. I knew this would be a fun project so I took some pics to share with you guys.

Just getting home with it.

Plain Jane bone stock.

I started stipping all the plastic off that evening.

A good friend of mine owns a little body shop here in town so he let me bring the plastic in and had me start scuffing it up with some Scotch Bright pads. I told him about all the stories and talk about paintable and non-paintable plastic and he said he used something called bulldog that makes the paint stick. So he painted it the next day and the called to tell me it wasn't sticking! So I made a couple phones calls to Curt AKA Carnivore (PRC) and he shed some light on things. My buddy called his paint supplier and they sent us some kind of pre-mixed chemical for all kinds of plastic and it worked great! (Thanks Curt).

I had a local sign shop make the decals for me and had them sized to fit the factory locations. The badge decal on the hood is an exact replica of our actual badges.

I installed the Rangerware cab that I won at the rally which worked out great and it was even black. Here I've got it ready and waiting for the wheels to go on. I kept the stock tires for now but it really needed some nice wheels to spiff it up some. I went with the Buckshot wheels that were fitting considering they have a large center cap that looks just like the end of a shotgun shell, lol!

And the finished product! I'm more than pleased with the way it turned out and enjoyed each and every minute of this project.

The last thing is the LED lights which are ordered and should be here by the end of the week.

A special thanks to Jeremy at Wayne's Polaris, Joey at Super ATV and Tony a good friend of mine for the nice paint job.

Re: Project Police Ranger

Looking good Chief. Now we need to see one set up for border duty down in TX or AZ with gun turrets and armor.

I think Josh has some pics here somewhere of a ranger in full military drag that sure would look great sitting along side yours.

Re: Project Police Ranger

I bet you would love setting up a nice RZR for full Desert SWAT duty!

I can't think of a better machine to go chasing illegals and drug runners in!
