'08 ranger 700 dies when throttle is touched

Every time I touch the throttle, it dies. I checked the codes and got a TPS code and a T MAP SENSOR code. I changed both of these, and it is still dieing the same thing. If I unplug the TPS, it runs OK, but cuts out at high RPM. If the TPS is plugged in, then it dies as soon as I try to give it gas. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have heard about some people having an ecm problem and it caused this. I would have said TPS but if you changed it with a new one then that is eliminated. And it can't be a fuel problem causeif you unplug the TPS it will run but not at a high RPM. Is it under warranty?

It is out of warranty by a couple months. I thought it was the ECM, do you know where I could get one cheaper than the dealer? Is there a way to test it? Is there a "Polaris junkyard" out there some where?

I would say the TPS needs to be set correctly. The proper settings can be found in Polaris service manual.

I'd bet you have broken wires going to the TPS. They break right at the connector, but the plastic remains intact, so you have to lightly pull on the wires to see if they stretch.

Re: '08 ranger 700 dies when throttle is touched

I have checked all the wires going to the TPS and Map sensor. Both are good. Any other suggestions you can come up with, I would appreciate. Ore brainstorming is a heck of a lot more than I get from Polaris. Polaris is going downhill fast. I am running across a lot of people who are having issues with 08 and 09 rangers and razors. Polaris is not doing much to back up there machines. I think this is the last Polaris I will buy.
