Viper Winch Install

I am in the process of installing a mx4000 viper winch, the paper work that came with the winch is minimal at best is there anybody that has some better instruction?
If you have installed one before maybe the standard manual would be ok, but for someone that has never installed one the manual is almost useless.
any ideas??

Re: Viper Winch Install

Here is the write up Josh did on his RZR. Might give you some tips.

http://polarisrangerforum.com/index.php/topic,789.0.html

Also a little more information would be helpful. What are you installing the winch on? A Ranger or RZR? What specifically are you having troubles with? Is it the mounting of the winch or the electrical?

I am sure we can help, but without more info, I am not sure where to start.

The one they sent out for the rzr is actually my write up with my pictures. It is a cut and dry install. Just set back andlook at what you are doing and it really will only go one way. The electrical is easy , but if you have trouble with any part just let us know and we can guide you through it.

Re: Viper Winch Install

I installed one a few weeks ago and it is deffinatly a two person job. Holding the bolts and getting the nuts started went easy once the second set of hands showed up.

Re: Viper Winch Install

The Winch is going in a 09 rzrs, I had a friend that installed one on his come and help me, it is in and I tested it today so far so good.
Both of us agree that Viper should have better and more detailed instructions,
I do thank you that did respond, see ya on the trails.

Re: Viper Winch Install

I am very satisfied with mine. Not sure if they are quite up to par with Warn, but for the money, I would buy another one.

Re: Viper Winch Install

I have a Viper 4K pound winch on my 6x6. Have not HAD to use it yet but my install went easy and everything works great. I am impressed with the stoutness of the materials used including all the electrical components.

Wish when I had my front bumper off I would have taken the time to sand some spots and repaint it. My rig sheds paint like a snake losing it's skin. Maybe Rust will be the new "in" color.

I honestly don't believe Warn even gets close to Par until you get up to the heavy duty truck and jeep models. We have 3 RZRs in our group with 3 different winches, Polaris, Warn and Viper and they all work fine and were fairly easy to install.

There is more than $300 difference in the price between Viper and Warn and we sure can't see or feel where that is. If my Polaris 3500 winch breaks then I will replace it with the Viper 4000 or 4500 one.

Re: Viper Winch Install

From my experience the viper winch works great. I have had warn, superwinch (2) and now a 4000 viper on my Ranger. No problems. I broke a 2000 lb. backhoe on my tractor and it felll into the ditch. Hooked onto it with the winch and after chaining the ranger to my truck lifted the hoe out with no problems. I am going to get a 3000 lb for the rzr soon too. can't say enough good about the viper.
