Just unspool your old cable and then wrap the new cable on it . Hook the winch to a power poll, fence post and put the rzr in neutral and hold the brake while winching the line on straight. Let me know if you need more info. Also www.motoalliance.com offers tech help.

Re: Viper Winch AMSTEEL upgrade Help

The cable has a end on it that uses an allen bolt to fasten it. The new cable you get from viper probably doesn't have an end. Right? So take and pull some rope around the drum. This is called the tail. Take length wise of the drum with the rope and use a piece of duck tape to stick it to the drum. So this is the drum ( ) , make the rope go across it (----) , Tape it with duct tape to hold it. The when you start winching the line in let the rope go over the length wise piece. You want to get a good 5-6 wraps on the drum. What this does is you have the rope being held by the tension of the rope on the drum.
Did they not send any directions with this rope? If not I will try and find you some.

Re: Viper Winch AMSTEEL upgrade Help

Here is how to do it on a full size winch. Should be about the same.

I also sell winchline products if anyone is interested.

Re: Viper Winch AMSTEEL upgrade Help

Josh,
Got it on, it is the type with a ball baring so it was not as bad as I thught it might be,
I went up this morning and got to try it out, I always say if you don't use ur winch u ain't
haven enough fun, the amsteel is alot more user friendly I now highly recomend it.
Today is July 3, 09 and I was still able to find snow to play in here in Cache Valley UT with a temp of
86 deg f between 8000 & 9000 Ft Elev what a blast!
Hope U all are having as much fun as we are, HAPPY 4th!
