2006 Ranger 500EFI- Help in Iraq!?!
Hello to everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this. I am currently in Iraq working for the military. I currently have a 2006 Ranger 4X4 with a 500 EFI that is having a stalling condition when the throttle is depressed. I would like to know common failures and possible test procedures/specifications. Lights also do not come on with engine running. It will idle for an extended period of time. My experience is in automotive and diesel so the Ranger is new to me, and technical information is almost unheard of out here. If anyone could help with any information I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

Re: 2006 Ranger 500EFI- Help in Iraq!?!
Just a bit of an update for anyone who may be having similar problems. I read here that the Rangers tend to have harness problems, so I removed the complete wiring harness from bumper to bumper and stripped off all the conduit. I found multiple locations where the plastic conduit itself had started to rub through the sheathing of the wiring. There were locations where possible shorts or opens may have been intermittent or constant. Prior to this we also pulled flash codes from the ECM and found to have 9 stored in memory. Upon looking up the descriptions, found that 7 of them were for shorts/opens. We repaired the entire harness and reinstalled it to find that we also had a charging system problem (which we did not investigate prior to harness repair). Looking more closely, found that there was some discoloration at one of the terminals of the underhood ECM (located just in front of the glove box). Upon disassembly there was one terminal that apparently got hot enough to melt the solder off the circuit board. Once we soldered this terminal, the Ranger is running perfectly. In case anyone else may be having same types of problems thought this might help out. Thanks for looking.
