electric bed lift alternative?

So, I have an interest with finding better deals that the normal advertised items. With that in mind i have been looking at the electric bed lift that is normally about $600. With some searching, i found out that it is a linear actuator. When googled, i came across several sites that advertise them primarily for tv lifts. Several models look identical to ones for the polaris ranger. I have yet to find the actual specs for the one that is for the ranger(max lb. of lift.) but there are many different versions that are of all lengths and lbs. of lift ranger from 20lbs-1000lbs. There are also controllers that limit the extended length and wired and wireless remotes. They are 12vdc and paired with a reverse relay... are all that it takes. For under $200 for all of the stuff and perhaps tiny bit of modification(not $400 worth) you can get your lift for a lot cheaper than the usual ways.

Not if only it were that easy for the power steering... yes I am looking into that as well. If anyone knows of getting a setup that isn't $900, please let me know. I have looked at changing the gear box to a larger one as well as changing out the steering rack to an electric power steering system used on small vehicles as well as the power steering unit on the column.

I want to add a cargo bed lift as well.

I have a 2001.

Does anyone know the distance between the bolt holes on each end of the lift cylinder? Also is it a 12" stroke?

The cylinder probably has numbers on it that you can google to find the specs.

What harness

Do you have info on the harness? Was it just a button to activate the lift or more complex?
