2011 Ranger 800 Overheating

Within a mile and half the ranger starts to get hot. Fan kicks on at 204 deg. At first it cools down but continues to get hot. Washed radiator fins out. Fan will only kick on ever so often .I would think the fan ought to remain on until it is cool. Checked fluid level all good. Also stars backing itself down which I believe it should. Temp light lights up. Also if you turn it off it will not start back up which is probably a safety device. Any help is much appreciated

Look very closely at the radiator to make sure you have removed ALL of the crud from the radiator. Sometimes stuff gets really caked and cooked in there.

Any ideas on how to clean radiator other than washing it out. Could it be a thermostat.

Pressurized water through the fins - maybe add heat and soap to the mix.

They make a can of spray that has no acid in it to clean raditors. It will foam it out the dirt. Auto part stores carry it. Carefull with pressured water on the fins they will bend. I would check the thermostat.
