BigHorn trip in July

Going to start planning the trip to the BigHorn Mountains in Wyoming.

Tenative date at this point is July 9-13. This gives us 3 full days riding.

I have found it works best if you can drive out or back on a week day. This way if you have vehicle troubles, there will usually be a repair shop open.

The plan is to stay at ArrowHead Lodge .http://www.arrowheadonthebighorns.com/index.htm. They have a campground, cabins, bathouse, motel rooms, eats, drinks, and fuel. Bear Lodge is about 3 miles to the west if anyone wants to stay there http://www.bearlodgeresort.com/. Bear Lodge lists their lodging prices on the web site. Arrowhead is owned by the same people, and prices are about the same at either place.

We can ride right out of Arrowhead and hit the trails.

If anyone seen it a couple weeks ago, Fishers ATV World aired their visit to the BigHorn Mountains. This will be much of the same area we ride.

Looks like a blast. Do the guys with carbed machines have to rejet for the trails there?

Most of our riding is at elevations from 7,500 up to about 9,500 feet. About 9,700 feet is where the carbed machines power out. So to answer your question, nobody that I have rode with has rejetted.

If you where worried about the jetting you could always look at a carb kit that the snowmobilers use. it's basicly just a few tubs and T's and it uses the barometric pressure to adjuest you fuel delivery. I'm not sure whats it's called but found out for you.

My buddie uesed one last year when he raced Pikes Peak and it worked great.

I should have motel room, cabin, and RV site prices from Arrowhead shortly. I will post them up here so you can choose how you want to camp out. At this point it is still looking like July 9-13 is a go.

Re: BigHorn trip in July

Finally got the lodging prices for Arrowhead Lodge.

RV campsites - $12.50 per night with electricity, $15.00 with electricity and water. They do not have sewer hookups.

Rustic Cabins - $49.00 per night. Cabins all have heat and lights. No running water. Bring your bedding/sleeping bags/pillow. There are restroom/showers located by the cabins and a short walk from the RV sites.

Hotel Rooms - $82.00 per night for regular rooms, $119.00 for the suites.

There is a wedding party that has all the regular rooms reserved for July 11, so you would need to either move to a cabin for the one night or else reserve the suite. She thought they would not need all the rooms, so there is a possibility that there will be rooms available.

They have an eating establishment at the resort and also fuel.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

This trip is still a go. I made reservations for the 9-13 of July. Anyone who wants to come along, let me know so we can all meet up.

Re: BigHorn trip in July

Here are a few shots of our trip. First time I ever seen this much snow in July.

We had perfect weather for riding. We rode Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was an awsome trip. Thanks to all of my friends and family that joined in the fun.
