I just bought a 2010 Crew. It will be used for hunting ,trail riding and any other kind of fun I can think of. I added a hard plastic roof cover, half windshield and 4 year warranty when I bought it. I haven't got to use it but for a few minutes so far, but love it. It's HUGE! I thought I'd find a good forum about it to get advice before buying anything else to put on it, and to get an idea of what to look out for while using it. Hopefully keep from making rookie mistakes.

Re: New Member from Southeast Texas (Beaumont area)

I'm also thinking of buying the RZR 170 for my daughter. The warning sticker says it not for children under 12, she turns 8 in January, but it also says the throttle is "parent" adjustable. She has driven me around the deer lease plenty of times steering and controlling the throttle on a Rancher 350, with me behind her. Does anyone have an under age child riding the 170? If so, how well can they handle it? I think she would love it, and like the idea of having a seat belt and cage around her, but still don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about it.

Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to the forum. Post some pictures of your new ride.

I cannot help on the RZR 170, but I am sure it would be much safer than a small ATV for your daughter, especially if you limit throttle travel.

Thanks for the welcome and the input.
I agree that the 170 would be more safe for her than a small quad.
I'm not in a hurry to get the 170.

Word of advice. wait a few years on the 170. enjoy the time you get to spend with your daughter. if you buy the 170 she will be riding without you most of the time. that is not what she needs or wants. she wants to spend time with her daddy, use the time wisely. sorry for the serious note but you wont regret it.

Welcome JG, great idea to check in here before you make the same mistakes purchasing add ons that many of us have. You should have no trouble finding the info to make wise decisions.

Drop CodeBlue, a Mod here, a private message (PM), He is probably the most knowledgeable here on the RZR 170 and should have lots of great info to help you make the right decision.

Re: New Member from Southeast Texas (Beaumont area)

Thanks for the advice guys.

Good point fordguy, that was my exact argument to the little lady. My daughter usually did the driving (steering and throttle) on the four wheeler sitting in front of me. Those are times we will always have to remember, and all to soon she will not want to spend as much time with dad. I think we have dropped the idea of getting the 170 for now.

I just ordered a Big Sky Racks Sky-Bar Gun Rack for the Crew. I saw the Koplin crossed gun-boot kit and floor mounts, but thought the overhead storage would be better, with less waisted space. Has anyone put a rear view mirror on their Ranger. I have found several on-line, but would like some input before buying.

Thanks again,
John
