New Owner Texas

Initially bought a rhino 660 side by side. I wasn't pleased with the power it had so I sold it. I came across an 09 Ranger xp se. I have been extremely happy with it's performance. I have put this ranger places I wouldn't take anything else. AWESOME MACHINE

Loving the Ranger

Welcome to the forum - glad you are loving your Ranger. I don't know what I'd do without mine now that I have one!

We're expecting another foot or more of snow tonight, so she'll be getting another workout!

So you went from like 32HP with the rhino to 40HP with the Ranger LOL. I love my rhino, but it tears up my lawn too much to try and use it for utility use around the house. How does the Ranger do on turf?

Turf mode works great on the Ranger.

I bought a Ranger 500 EFI a couple months ago and use it a lot for yard work. We had a Thanksgiving day snow storm which broke off 50 or so heavy White Pine branches. The Ranger allowed me to handle the branches and save my lawn at the same time. Turf mode works!

What exactly does turf mode do? I've tried searching for it but can't seem to find anything that tells what it does, other than the only thing I could figure out is it opens the rear differential allowing the rear wheels to spin at different speeds. Regardless though, if it works great because my Rhino destroys my lawn pretty quick if I try to use it for spraying or pulling my lawn sweeper.

Turf mode unlocks the rear differential allowing one rear wheel to stay still while the other turns as you corner - so, no more torn up lawn. We are always wet on Vancouver Island, and the turf mode makes it so my 2012 Ranger 500 efi never tears up the lawn. And it saves gas, too, when you are trail riding. This Ranger has 1 wheel drive, 2 wheel drive, and 4 wheel drive. It's the best.
