Polaris Ranger 6x6 700EFI Fuel System
We have a 2008 Ranger 6x6 700EFI and is always on standby for emergency use. Every month it is tested by starting and running around for few minutes. Last November, the fuel pump breaks and I have it replaced including the fuel tank since it's not supplied separately. Again, this month, the pump breaks and I have to replace it again. Does anyone experienced similar situation in their fuel system? What's the most probable cause of this?

Fuel pump is plastic I'm guessing. Today's fuels are horrible for fuel systems, and ethanol will quickly dry out o-rings, gaskets, etc. The lack of use of the machine will continue to cause these problems.
Are you adding any fuel stabilizers to the fuel in the machine? If not you need to be adding something such as STA-BIL, or Lucas Fuel System Treatment. |

Sta-bil hosed a couple of my machines, I stopped using it. Just adding a shot of B12 Chemtool has been doing the trick for a couple years now.
As for the problem, I think it is likely a quality control issue. |

Pardon me for not giving a very specific information about the problem, the fault actually is the electric motor that drives the fuel pump, which I just called a pump as an assembly. I happened to source an electric motor and it's back into operation.

Congrats! If you don't mind, please post the information on that motor here so we can do the same if we have to.

Glad you got it running again.
I find it hard to believe that STA-BIL caused any damage to your engine. I've used it for many years and its helped starting and engine life considerably in my lawn mowers, roto-tiller, and my ATV. However, each to their own, buy what you want, I was just using it as a reference not knowing what the complete problem was. Not being around a machine makes it hard to diagnose problems LOL. I've used STA-BIL and Lucas products for years and haven't had any issues, but others may depending on their engine type I guess. |

You really don't need any of these products. Just go out and ride the thing, a lot. It's fun

Believe it or not, as you wish. The carbs on more than one machine (garden tractor, ATV, generator) got gunked up more quickly using Sta-Bil. Nowadays I run straight gas with fewer problems. Have to dose a tank with B12 Chemtool from time to time to clean out the varnish since I can't run every engine on a regular basis.

I used B12 for a while then when I wanted to buy more I could never get to the store in time before it was sold out so I switched to STA-BIL, but then again I don't let my equipment sit very long its always on the go it seems like. When I get my Ranger this fall I'll be going back to B12 myself because now STA-BIL is getting more expensive and harder to find because everyone has turned to it now LOL. Just be sure when you add whatever additive(s) you do decide to use that you start the machine and let it run for 5-10 minutes to get the additives into the fuel system completely including the engine, if not its pointless wasting the money on adding anything. |
