RZR Air Filter
Here are some pics of my RZR air filter after 70 miles of dusty wood trails here in the north east.
Actually, this filter has almost 300 miles on it and it is the original stock filter that I have kept a close eye on since day one. Here is the initial opening of the canister after 70 miles during August, September and October. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All the twigs and dust are stuck to the grease I use when servicing. I clean it all up and re grease the seals and make sure the lid goes back on all the way around as it should and also make sure when I push the filter element on the tube that it is nice and tight and well greased. My throttle body is as clean today as the day I bought the RZR new. I have the new filter from Polaris but plan to keep useing this one for the rest of this season. I like the over sock that does not come with the new filter and I will be discussing this deletion with Polaris. Gary

Re: RZR Air Filter
I have to make this clear here. I am the "SKEPTIC" where this filter breech is concerned but I have only ever seen 4 or 5 RZR filters and they all look just about the same here.
I've actually gone out of my way to try and find one that has breeched so I can view first hand what or where the problem comes from. We just don't get super dusty conditions up here and I have never seen a filter completely plugged as many have described. Based solely on my own personal observations from RZR filters here in the North East I am able to say the stock filters do the job perfectly fine so far. Certainly no better or worse then my three previous Poalris Sportsmans and actually pretty much the same all around. When I do read of these breeches I always try to question and dig deeper to determine where the actual breech occurred but so far not one guy who has complained has come forward with detailed info or the actual cause of the breech. I can't say it does not happen but I can say without a doubt if it ever happens to me I will find the exact cause and post photos of my findings just as I have above. If I sound a bit frustrated, I am! I find it kind of baseless to come and complain about a serious issue that could affect us all but not try to provide detailed annalysis of what the real cause was. I really need someone who has experienced such a breech to show some proof positive of where the problem is. I would love to know exactly what difference any one thinks there is by going away from the stock filter and to a K&N or UNI filter and how that will fix the problem we still don't know the actual cause of. If you feel I am being too "OUTSPOKEN" here or that I am being overly protective of Polaris, thats fine but show me some proof or a cause of these breeches so I can change my mind. I am not saying it doesn't happen, just that I have never seen it. Gary

Re: RZR Air Filter
I believe that the RZR is like any other offroad machine, it requires more than just putting gas into it for it to go. I raced motocross for many years and if there is one thing that needs to be getting attention, it is the airfilter.
Using grease and insuring that the clamps are all tight is the first step in ensuring that things will go as designed. |
