I've got a 2007 Rzr which has been working fine but just the other day I realized that I couldn't shift into park. The control cable is kinked. But when I manually move the lever into park it will move but the P indicator doesn't light up.
Now today I can't get it into reverse either and I'm getting a blink code 25 Invalid gear. So, the question is: Am I in for a major repair here? I see by the service manual that you have to do some major surgery to get at the transfer case. Thoughts? Comments? |

Does the RZR shift like a Ranger? Meaning, you move a hand lever on the dash to shift gears, and the hand lever operates a lever on the transmission via a cable that runs between the two?
If so then the kinked cable might be the problem. It may have stretched or pulled loose on one end. I would try to straighten it to remove the kink and make it move freely again. After that I would make sure the gear it's in (lever on transmission) matches the light that lights up (hand lever at dash). The Ranger shift cable shroud has adjusters built in so you can adjust it if the internal cable gets stretched or something. So if the lights don't match the gears, you can hopefully adjust the shift cable to make it so. I think the kinked cable is probably the culprit. Worst case scenario, you will need to replace the cable. I did this on a friend's 2001 4x4 Ranger after his cable broke. He kept driving the Ranger while he waited for the new cable - he just had to get out and reach under the bed to shift gears. That is JMO FWIW, and I don't know how similar RZRs and Rangers are. Good luck! |
