Sand tires for a Crew
I just got back from Sand Mountain NV for my first trip with my new Ranger Crew... I am currently running 27 inch mudlites and had them aired down to 3.5psi, needless to say I would really like to be able to get alot more places in the dunes. My question is, has anyone tried sand tires on the heavies utv around? do I want to go with straight paddles, v paddles, or floatation type tires(i.e. zippers), Also do I need to change all four or am I better off with just the back two? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... And just for the record, even without any performance mods or sand tires, I was still able to show up several Rhinos that were set up much more appropriatly, even with 4 passengers.LOL

Re: Sand tires for a Crew
i havent heard of a crew with paddles yet but i would recommend some 7 paddle skat traks in the rear and smooth tires in the front.. it doesnt make sense to alot of people to have smoothies in the front, but rangers are heavy so they sink in the sand.. the smoothies help them float on top of the sand.. skat trak will take your normal tires and make them smoothies for $27 each tire.. they will make 7 paddles out of your rear tires for 67 per tire.. you will get more speed and power because the tires weigh alot less than stock.. stick with a 2 or 4 ply tire for the smoothies.. i saw a rhino in glamis climb olds hill with 4 smoothies.. crazy..
