09 Ranger Hotter then H#!!
Hey guys new to the site but I live in Tucson and just bought an 09 Ranger. It is extremelly uncomfortable the way the heat pulls of the motor and is absorbed in to the seat and leg area. Is this typical of the 09 I have rode an 07 and 08 and dont recall the heat being such an issue?? Any help would be great. Tucson is hot enough!!

Welcome to the site Cottonwood.
You will get more responses to your question if you ask it in the full size ranger section. I don't have one but have heard this complaint a few times now. You can also use the search function up in the right corner and type in 09 ranger and see what comes up about the heat issue. Have fun and enjoy the forums. Gary

Re: 09 Ranger Hotter then H#!!
My HD gets hot in those areas as well. You can place a pool noodle behind you in the space between the seat base and seat back to reduce some of the heat flow....the hot seat and panel behind you legs is going to be a trial and error adventure. Maybe some underhood insulation applied might reduce some of it, but my hopes aren't high.
I think we get spoiled with our air conditioned cars and when we ride our Rangers in 100+ temps we notice the additional heat more. At least we are on the tail end of Summer and our real riding season is just around the corner. |

Re: 09 Ranger Hotter then H#!!
I have seen some nice heat shield stuff I don't know the name of but will describe. Don't know the area on your machines that need shielding but maybe this stuff could work.
It is used in the auto industry. Has a tin foil type face that seems to have reinforcing threads woven into it. The foil is adhered to a rubber backer that has a sticky glue to hold it in place where you want it. I think it could also be found in a plumbing and heating supply house and it is used on or near furnaces and duct work. It does sound to me like the aerodynamics of your machines is such that air is being sucked past the engine or exhaust and then blown into the cab area after getting heated. The object would be to either redirect this hot air or block it from doing the hot seat thing. You might also consider a fix that is removable because the heat sure would be nice up in my neck of the woods around the hunting season and winter months. Gary

Re: 09 Ranger Hotter then H#!!
I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM, BUT I WANT TO SHARE MY HEAT PROBLEM ON MY 2010 RANGER. THIS HEAT ISSUE IS VERY REAL AND A REAL PROBLEM. FRANKLY HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT A RANGER. IF YOU ARE IN COLD OR COOL WEATHER IT MAY NOT BE A ISSUE, BUT I LIVE IN ARIZONA. POLARIS COMPANY HAS BEEN NO HELP AND FRANKLY I CAN'T EVEN GET THEM TO CONTACT ME. I DON'T THINK THEY WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE CAN BE CORRECTED AND I DID CORRECT ABOUT 85% OF MY PROBLEM AT MY COST. I PAID A LOT MONEY FOR THIS MACHINE AND I WOULD NOT EXPECT THIS KIND OF HEAT PROBLEM. KEEP IN MIND I HAVE HAD SPORTSMAN 500s FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS OR SO AND THEY HAVE A SMALL HEAT ISSIUE...NOTHING LIKE THIS 2010 RANGER . NOW GET THIS RANGER SELLS A HEAT INSULATION KIT FOR $85.00...PLUS INSTALATION WHY IN THE HELL DID THEY NOT INSTALL AT THE FACTORY? POLARIS KNOWS THEY HAVE AN HEAT ISSUE ON SOME OF THEIR RANGERS. IT COST ME ABOUT $350.00 TO FIX THE ISSUE. I THINK [POLARIS SHOULD COWBOY UP AND CORRECT THE ISSUE AT THEIR COST. THIS PISSES ME SO MUCH I WOULD LIKE TO GET A NUMBER OF POLARIS RANGER OWNERS AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH CONSUMER SAFETY BORAD AND NOW WE ARE TALKING "RECALL". I HAVE REQUESTED POLARIS TO REIBNBURSE ME..NO RESPONSE YET!
YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT jeburkhart@cox.net TO GET ON THE RECALL LIST. BIG WALLY |

Re: 09 Ranger Hotter then H#!!
I HAVE A NEW 2010 RANGER THAT HAS A SERIOUS HEAT ISSUE IN THE PASSENGER AREA. POLARIS CHOOSES NOT TO RESPOND TO MY REQUEST TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE (STILL UNDER WARRANTY). I NEED TO COLLECT A NUMBER OF NAMES THAT ARE AS UNHAPPY AS I AM WITH THE HEAT ISSUE. I INTEND TO CONTACTED THE CONSUMER SAFETY BOARD AND IF THEY GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THEY WILL LAUNCH AN INVESTAGATION AND POSSIBLE RECALL FOR CORRECTION. AS FAR AS I KNOW IT INVOLVES 09..10 AND 11 MODELS. MY RESEARCH TELLS ME IT CAN BE FIX AT A COST AROUND $350.00. MY POSITION IS...IF CAN BE FIXED, WHY IN THE HELL DIDN'T POLARIS DO IT RIGHT AT THE FACTORY? POLARIS ACTUALLY SELLS AN INSULATION KIT THAT WORKS PRETTY GOOD. WHY SHOULD THE CONSUMER PICK UP THE COST OF THIS. POLARIS NEEDS TO COWBOY UP ON THIS ISSUE!
YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT jeburkhart@cox.net TO ADD YOUR NAME TO THE COMPLAINT LIST. I HAVE 4 NAMES SO FAR. I WILL TAKE THE LEAD AND KEEP ALL UP TO DATE ON THE PROGRESS. THANKS.....BIG WALLY |
