2012 800xp Rear Gearcase

Hey guys and gals I'm in need of a little help. Apparently I stripped a gear inside my rear gearcase and It cracked the housing. The big question is, can it be welded? Next question I have is in the service manual it talks about tearing a six-by-six apart but not a regular ranger unless I'm missing something in chapter 7. I tried doing some searching but that didn't help any but I'm looking for ideas on how to remove it, is it worth doing myself or sending it to a dealer. It looks like a new one runs about 3k. I'd be happy if I can avoid that. Regardless it needs to be fixed but Id like to trade it in on a new one or sell it outright so I still kind of need to fix it. What are your thoughts and it is a 2012. The crack is on the very bottom.
