Hey ya'll - I'm fixing to do my oil/filter change and I've seen all the "kits" on the internet and at the dealership. I'm sure you can go to Advance / NAPA / etc and get the oil and filter from them. Wondering if anyone has done that and what type you use and any other thoughts? thanks.

I have a 2019 Northstar and i go to Arnold Motor and he has the oil filter on hand and i run Castrol Full Synthetic oil in mine. I change every 100 hrs or 1000 miles. I also do the front gear case and the transmission also. Pretty easy to do.

I’ve had very good luck with the Polaris oil, so that’s what I’m going to use in our new NorthStar Ultimate crew. It’s due a 25 hour change in about .5 hours so I’ll be changing it in a day or two. After that I’ll change it every 50-75 hours.

It surprises me that people spend thousands of dollars on there pride and joy Rangers and are very loyal to the brand but will use any none Polaris oil and filter to save a few dollars !! Polaris engineers have built and tested our Rangers to run in extreme temperature changes with a filter that protects our engines and people will still use none Polaris products to save a few dollars !!!!

Have 2021 Polaris crew Northstar premium w/ 17 hours and am aware you have 1st maintenance due at 25 hrs inc oil change and filter. Can you do this yourself...our dealer stated it had to be done at Official Polaris Dealer so not to void warranty. Is that true and have any of you experience this situation..RM

I asked my dealer when I bought mine about this.

their answer was just keep a log and receipts and you won’t have a issue.

Just got through speaking to Polaris Corp office ..and they agreed you can perform your own 25 hour service and change oil and fluids yourself-BUT, so you don't void 1 yr factory warranty(pages 188 and 189 in the manual) "Damage or failure resulting from the use of non-recommended lubricants or fluids is not covered by this warranty'. Polaris gives you a case# or transcript of the conversation stating on 1st 25 hr service you can perform your own work within the criteria contained in the owners manual...so guess not to void 1 yr warranty will buy Polaris factory oil and filter, fluids and do work my self and (as further required by Polaris ) save receipts and keep log & enter date serviced was performed in owners manual and change the next service mode on dash from 25 to 50 hrs .

Have any of you purchased the extended warranty after 1 yr..Is it worth it and how much is the warranty
