I need some help with replacing a starter motor on a 2003 Ranger Series 11. Will I have to remove the Clutch engine cover plate in order to get the lower Starter mounting bolt? If so, can somebody please tell me how to remove the clutch pieces that I need to remove? Pictures would be a huge help.

Thanks in advance for your help

Do a google search, you may find a how-to with photos. I have found some for certain things on Rangers. And try to get a service manual - I found one in pdf form to download for $5.

Thanks Russ. I do have a service manual, but it doesn't detail removing the starter. It just says 'remove the starter' and the pictures in the manual aren't that helpful. I'll keep on trying, though. Thanks again.

Dang it... I just looked through my manual also, and it doesn't help either.

I know that removing the starter drive is not difficult. It has the bendix built on it. I think the motor can probably be unbolted and slid out sideways (away from the bendix & flywheel).
