I’ll have the engine control module flashed with a Gilomen tune. Gilomen Innovations Polaris Ranger 1000 G5 100 HP ECU tune and clutch kit. This tune is specifically designed for the 2018+ Ranger 1000 gen 2 models. Each tune is setup specifically for your exact model and tire size. This tune and clutch kit turns your slow doggy Ranger in to a powerful, fun, fast and very responsive machine!

The three position performance switch on the dash remains fully functional. The "work" and "standard" modes stay stock while the "Performance" mode offers all out power!. If your machine is equipped with turf mode I can assure you it will stay fully functional just as it was designed to be. This tune does not cause any codes / check engine lights. It allows 100% power in All gears. The seat-belt limiter is disabled. This tune version is the most aggressive and only reflash currently offered by Gilomen Innovations for the 1000cc Ranger models. It performs great on 87 octane gas and even better on 91 octane gas. All engine protections are left in place. Fuel and timing maps are revised for peak performance on pump gas while keeping your piston crown temps and valves cooler than stock.

There is no comparison between a stock and tuned Ranger! Your looking about $1000 if you purchase a ECU. If you send yours in your looking about $400 to $500 if you purchase the clutch kit.
I just received a 2023 Northstar XP 1000 premium with tracks for use in the winter. I live on a seasonal road that is not plowed and got tired of using a snowmobile in -25 C (-13F) to travel the 3 miles (5 Km) miles back to the car. The track vendor info states about a 35 % reduction in speed due to track gearing.

I am hoping the machine has enough HP to reach about 40 MPH (65 KMH) ..... that would be top speed as the road is a classic cottage with hills and turns. I am concerned it might not have the oomph with tracks for this and perhaps the Gilomen tuning would be a solution.

My questions:
1. Has anyone had any experience with tracks ?
2. Looking to conserve $ ...... does the clutch have to be changed as well ?

Thanks,

John

Thank you Big Blue and Gerb4653 - great to hear of real life experiences with the Camso tracks 4S1 tracks (same ones I have) ! The speed with tracks and no tuning sounds like it will work just fine.

Sorry for the delay in responding.... Canadian Thanksgiving so got a little preoccupied.

I am aware of the speedometer error and have found a device called the "Speedohealer" made by Healtech which I am thinking of putting on. No sense in additional mileage when the machine did not actually travel them.

I find the user's manual pretty lightweight and am looking for a shop manual as I do most of the maintenance myself. I am really curious about the wiring harness as when the display first lights up at startup I see left and right green arrows which makes me think signal lights could be added. More importantly though I would like to add a backup light.

Any ideas as where to get a shop manual ?

Thanks !

John

Thank you Gerb4653 you certainly are a source of information !

I followed the link for turn signals you provided - interesting but think I will take a pass on that - the $ 459.99 is more than I am interested in spending especially once the US to CDN dollar, taxes and customs are factored in.... would be north of $700.

The Speedohealer as I understand it can be set to the correction factor for tracks and reset to a zero correction factor when the wheels go back on. At least this way there is no plugging and unplugging and protecting exposed plugs.

Good advice re using a relay for a backup light as my thinking is a backup light will likely draw a lot more power than a backup beeper.

All the best,

John
