2024 Polaris Xpedition

I know this section is for Ranger talk, but there does seem to be some crossover with the newly announced Xpedition. Hopefully some of these new features/accessories will lend themselves to existing/future Ranger products as well.

Some interesting new features, seems like more of a cross between a Ranger and a General, but geared toward overlanding.

The fold down rear seat storage looks great as well. Just throwing it out there for general discussion:

It's a beautiful vehicle, but I think they missed a few things for the folks they are marketing this vehicle to. Dual high capacity batteries, a 12 slot bus bar, and a built in factory inverter to start.

Exactly my first impression — enclosed cab, storage is key for overlanding, one key piece is the battery/inverter to power and charge up devices or essentials. Seems like a missed opportunity, or maybe they have something planned for an accessory add-on? From a company like Polaris who produces a ton of inverters/generators, you’d think this would be a no-brainer.

Regardless, seems like the price range once you start with accessories is well into full size overlanding/Jeep/Bronco territory. Will be interesting to see how this is received.

That being said, keep on innovating, all for new products and ideas and hopefully some will trickle over to existing and future Rangers.

Yea I think it looks pretty sweet. Might call my dealer tomorrow to see what my ranger is worth. $44k is pretty crazy tho for that thing!!! My wife would kill me lol
I like it, however hard to justify upgrading to from a ranger that i just upgraded to essentially all of that.
Hopefully those cabs are better dust proof and such. higher horse power would be nice.
Not for me! I’ll wait till they’ve been out for a few years. Hate to see what the actual price will be. For a toy I bet it’s going to be way more than I’m willing to pay. We’ll see.

Pricing is on there, $44k for the northstar crew version

That’s ridiculous! For that price, I’ll go back to Jeep.
Bought my first Ranger in 2002. I think i paid just shy of $8000 back then. Pretty pricey for the time. And have had many in between. Im just glad i got my 2018 when i did. Ill replace every part that needs replacing before i buy a new one. They're just getting out of hand with the price. If i was going to fork out that much cash....it would be for something like this. With an airtight cab, heat and air that will easily go 50 thousand miles before having to change a wheel bearing.

Totally agree! I had an early built 18 JL Jeep with a 3.6L. Loved it when it wasn’t in the shop. It had all kinds of problems. I ended up getting rid of it because ever time I turned around it was going back in the shop again. I know a lot of folks that have newer Jeeps that have had great luck with them. Before I would dish out $44,000 for a Polaris I would definitely get another Jeep!

While I normally can't stand the comparison to Jeep (especially when it comes to RZRs) I don't understand this model as it seems Polaris is trying to make this line more similar. What they needed to do was engineer the RZR trailing arm rear end into the general and this line so the cost could be more justified and be a true sport utility class.

I think Polaris does so well with the ranger northstar they tried to go a step further and really maximize profit. Cuz really this is a beefed up northstar ranger with nicer cockpit
I see it more as an upgraded general, or at least sharing space in the sport-utility area. The ranger is the work horse, the RZR is the play baby. This seems more in-between similar to the general with a serious yet playful approach. I haven't seen any marketing with this machine in a true work related role. I don't believe it is supposed to compete with the flagship RGRs but create a new flagship line.

Wonder if the heat and A/C is beefed up for the extra inside room. I like the high travel suspension (but not sure I need it).

Adjustable seats is nice. Wish they made it street ready with all the turn signals, emergency brake and horn you need.

I like it but so far I am doing short trips with the Ranger for more utility purposes. If I start wanting to ride the apalachian trail or even some of the trails in the U.P. of michigan it might be worth a more serious look.

I wonder how the roll out will be. Not sure Titos crossed out enough years. But with any luck it will be a smooth timely roll out!

I ordered one today. We've been really happy with our 2019 Northstar. We've done A LOT to it to get the most out of it on the trails. Don't really work it, so we won't really miss the dump bed, bed weight capacity (1000 vs. 600) or the towing capacity (2500 vs. 2000). The Gilomen 118HP Challenger kit, Gilomen clutch, Elka Stage 5 shocks, 29" tires on 14" wheels was about as much as I could do, and overall, we have an excellent ride on the trails. But it is a utility machine suspension and we just don't run the trails as hard as our friends running the RZRs.

We're looking forward to the new cockpit, suspension and 6" longer wheelbase. I think it will give us a good ride. And I'll be checking with Gilomen for a new tune as soon as they offer one. By the time I got done adding options, the new one was pricey, but my dealer cut me some slack buying straight out. We'll hang onto our current Northstar, at least until we know we like the new one.

Here I thought we'd built the best A/C ride we could have...and then they released this new one. Just my luck. :) We like the blue ones.

Did they say when you might get it?

blue ones are nice. What was the final ticket price on the 2 door version? It looks pretty awesome. I guess I don't use the bed very much either really:sneaky: might be nice to have a 2 door for the trails.

Well, I added quite a bit in accessories. The 3 Rigid light bars, 6000 lb. winch, HD bumpers, front and rear A-arm guards, HD rock sliders, mirrors, cargo area dome light, turn signals and horn, spare tire carrier, spare tire and wheel, etc. There was even 8 hrs. shop labor added to install everything. With a $4K discount, out the door just under $49K.

Yeah, that's expensive. But we're old enough that comfort is key to having a good ride. And at our age we know we're not taking any $$ with us when we die. If you gotta spend $40 to begin with, you may as well spend a little more and get it the way you want.
