Ranger engine wouldn't turn over removed spark plug turn over just fine. Put spark plug back fired right up. Can someone explain what's going on?

If you did not drowned it and the battery, battery connections and starter are good. I would guess the brake safety switch is going bad.

It's good the starter would kick in but the engine would not turn like it was locked down when I removed the spark plug it would turn over then i put the spark plug back in it started right up and still is. It was like it was locked down from compression.

The 570 has a compression release which might not be working correctly.
But like UpNorth2 said a bad battery or connection is usually the problem.

Just curious... how does a person locate and test the compression release mechanism, to see if it’s working?

It is on the end of the exhaust cam probably on the driver side.
It has a spring and I think a small lever that swings out when the rpm gets above cranking speed.
But I don't know for sure how to test it.
