I’m going to pass. I‘ve only logged a bit north of 700 miles on my 21 Trail Boss. My dealer beats the Polaris offer by about 10% but crunching those numbers the extended warranty costs me about a buck (Or was it two?) for every mile I drive.

Had I logged thousands of miles during my two years ownership and feared some critical parts were close to being wore out I’d likely feel differently.

I rarely buy an extended warranty. They aren't selling them to help us. They are selling them to make money. Occasionally, the buyer gets protected and that is a win. But I would rather pay ala carte, with all the money I have saved in not buying all the warranties that have been offered to me over the years. It would have been tens of thousands of dollars for all the vehicles, electronics, motorcycles etc. if I added them up. I was never offered one on any aircraft. That would have been worth it on a couple occasions.

The one I did kind of regret was a Mercedes wheel warranty. I think they wanted a couple grand or $2500 for the wheel warranty when I bought the car. I cracked 3 out of four wheels on that car. The wheels cracked along mold lines and Mercedes wouldn't admit it was a product defect. I call BS on that one, but they refused to warrant them nonetheless. They wanted a couple grand a wheel. I bought some look like the originals for 3 or 400 a wheel. They didn't crack along the mold lines. I guess I still saved money on that one.

Extended warranties seem a bit like a borderline scam to me. I am a pay as I go kind of guy.

I purchased a 5 year plan that was only offered on date of purchase through a 3rd party and not Polaris. The Polaris warranty is subject to them deciding if it’s “normal wear” the 3rd party is any issue, excluding tire wear or collision, down to a light bulb. My 1000 North Star ultimate had the fuel pump recall, during the inspection the dealership found the center forwarded drive shaft needed to be replaced. Polaris warranty did not cover it, but my extended warranty protection covered it 100% including labor, $800 saved.
who was that through?

Pinnacle insurance, it was offered through the Polaris dealer when I picked up my unit. It’s a 2022 North Star Ultimate.
Can you please provide me additional information on the Pinnacle extended warranty you have? I called Pinnacle and talked with one of their agents. She said they don't offer extended warranties unless you are currently insured through them and add an extended warranty through an existing policy. I googled Pinnacle insurance and they are headquartered in Brandon, SD. Is this the same Pinnacle that you are referring to? If not, can you give me their phone number?

You're going to want to check with your local dealer and see who they use. Even if you manage to find info on that plan, doesn't mean your local place will accept it and use them.

I hear you loud and clear! I never buy into a extended warranty, I always figure the cost is usually equal to one service issue. With the cost of these machines and the quality of workmanship, I figured any repairs would be expensive. Looking at just the electrical work that could go wrong is why I purchased it. With the fuel pump recall and now the main front drive shaft having to be replaced, I’m already $1k ahead, one more issue and I’m breaking even or $1k ahead with 5 years left on the policy.

I’m not sure how to get them, I did it at the dealership when I picked up the machine. They told me that was the only chance to purchase the policy, once I take delivery and drive away it would not be available anymore.

I will just stick to a Polaris extended waranty. I won't belabor the point any further, but I do have one more question. Lets say that you are several hundred miles from home, your Plaris warranty has expired, and you need to take your Polaris to the closest dealer where you are at to get something repaired. Don't you have to have some type of documentation to show the other dealer that you have an extended warranty from other than Polaris? Do you know that they will accept it?

The warranty is registered by your dealer under Polaris, so any dealer can look up your warranty information. You’ll be able to see it in your Polaris account online as well.

I did bring it to another dealer. They called my original dealer to get the information and all was covered. The policy covered it at any certified Polaris dealer. I just didn’t want to get the paperwork out of my safe.
